I was recently invited to paint a 15x7' mural in Burien, WA, a small community near Seattle, WA.I had 2 days to complete the mural during their annual strawberry festival. The mural was painted on 4 wooden panels attached to a double car garage door. The garage was part of the Burien Art Gallery, a little building in a beautiful wooded park. I enjoyed painting under the tall pine trees. Some folks from the Moshier Art Center were set up next to me throwing pottery. Behind the garage a stage was set up and I got to listen to live music all day. My favorites were a traditional West African music and dance group Sohoyini(www.sohoyini.com) and a Western Swing band The Jangles (www.janglesband.com). I had a great time spending two days in such a lovely setting and getting to talk to the friendly people from the community. The best part about painting in public is getting to talk to people all day. I love the way art brings people together!
I have more pics of the completed mural stuck on my cell phone, because of course I got half way to Burien and realized I forgot to pack the camera....so as soon as I figure out how to get the images off my cell phone I will upload them!
